I’m going with Linda to big ‘ole bad Toronto to help support some of her friends who will be putting on a great show….
“The United Steel Workers of Montreal are proud to announce their recent marriage to the feisty Toronto-based label, weewerk. The nuptials will result in the re-release of The USWM’s debut album, Broken Trucks and Bottles, complete with Canada-wide distribution by Outside Music and The Steel Workers’ triumphant return to Toronto for the launch. The not-to-be-missed show will take place at the historic Horseshoe Tavern and will also find another recent addition to the weewerk catalogue, Ox celebrating the launch of their own CD, American Lo Fi. Heavy hitters NQ Arbuckle and The Silver Hearts will round out one stellar evening of music.
The Steel Workers’ debut album, Broken Trucks and Bottles, was recorded at the UHW Studio in Montreal, which was founded by band member Gern f. and has become a recording hub for many of the same bands USWM has played alongside in the Montreal music scene. The album mixes original songs written by Gern f. and Shawn ‘Gus’ Beauchamp with a few covers of independent bands that have inspired USWM along the way.
Broken Trucks and Bottles also includes guest performances by talented artists such as David Macanulty (The Subhumans, Paperboys, The Hardrock Miners) and Andrew Horton (Notre Dame de Grass).
Recently, USWM was labeled one of the hottest bands to see at Canadian Music Week festival in Toronto. Production has already begun on their follow up album, and they’ve been keeping themselves fit, co-producing the popular Citygrass live music events around their hometown.”
