I’ve always been curious how Kaiser_1 from the Daily Bread gets all his water shots — while surfing. We’ve tried with limited success, mostly with the person shooting opting just to be floating in the impact zone.
I know what kind of camera he uses – an Olympus 770sw (we’ve used almost the same one in CR and MX); it was more the logistics of actually using one while surfing; where does he place it; how does he keep from losing it in big surf; how does he catch waves with it; etc.
The southern california surf forecast blog put together a great interview with him that tackles all those questions. Not to give it all away but the key is a silicon tight fitting sleeve around the camera; which can then be tucked into the wetsuit without slipping around; and it’s attached the suits leash-zipper.
