St. Laurent Surfing

St Laurent

“Christened on board about six years ago by Addison, the St. Lawrence is home to an ever-growing number of river surfers (about 30 last Sunday) who share the water with longer-standing kayakers. As anybody who’s bobbed in crowded breaks will know, there’s a pecking order and surfers ride on top.”

River Surfing

River Surfing

“The W.R.S.A. is committed to the exploration of stationary waves while promoting and expanding the sport of river surfing. These waves will open up the entire world to surfing. At this point little is known about how many of these waves exist. Look at a map. Anywhere there is a current of water, the possibility for the formation of a stationary wave exists.”

(not so) Sizzling Summer: Montreal skate parks

“Outdoor parks in Montreal generally suck. Unlike in B.C., where authorities have worked with local skaters to build proper outdoor parks, Montreal’s local government has not quite gotten the picture. They’ve put up loads of modular skate parks, which are basically prefab pieces manufactured by evil toy companies that are not cheap, safe or good. As a result, most of our parks are completely empty and unskated.”

Preview Just ordered this PDF Booklet for surfing the coast of New Hampshire. It came from a place called surfmaps.com. The quality is pretty good and the price was reasonable – 7.95 US $. It lists 21 surfable breaks and has a brief write up on each location with wave heights, seasonal restrictions, swell and wind conditions.

Go Skateboarding Day 2005

GSD

Go Skateboarding Day is June 21st, 2005

“If skateboarders have their way, that will be the scene on the first day of summer—Go Skateboarding Day. It’s a day for skateboarders to skate above all else. It’s also an opportunity for those who’ve never been on a skateboard to grab a friend and join in.

The inaugural Go Skateboarding Day this past June caught on quicker than anyone imagined. Skateboarders held events throughout the Americas, Europe, Australia and Japan. Some of those events included backyard jams, skatepark sessions and impromptu street missions.”

Skaters for Public Skateparks

Skate

A seemingly well organized site to disseminate public skatepark information and awareness tactics. I have to think of ways to support them .. they even have a Regional Director for Quebec, Anthony Di Paolo..
