A few days ago, while in a normal state of mind at a normal part of my day while thinking normal thoughts — something different came to mind. It concerned the flowing of water over a riverbed; how the water down deep, close to the rocks along the bottom, feels the turbulence. The water near the top is affected by this “rough” motion but smoothes itself out. The progression of this motion in layers as you rise to the surface of running water, sometimes uniformly; other times creating current and rip.
I guess the strange part is the thought ran through my head without disrupting my other thoughts at the time. Almost a parallel/practice of itself.
Made me want to run home and read my beautiful copy of the Tao Te Ching.
