“Sipping Jetstreams” is a surf/travel movie … with slightly more travel than surf (about a 6/5 ratio).
First off, I was warned that this wasn’t your typical surf movie with non-stop action, instead it was the kind of movie to put on in the background and meditate on. That said — this is a beautiful, carefully crafted movie, shot with high quality stock throughout, actually purposefully using different kinds of film stock per location to achieve different looks. The spots are unique and really stand out above most other movies I’ve seen. This is Taylor Steele “painting a movie” instead of “filming a TV show”.
The surfing is very good (the sheer quality of the shots turns even the simplest of rides into mesmerizing sequences) but Kelly’s final part cuts through the burnout you might have of watching him surf 1000 times – and shows you why he still truly amazing.
This is not the movie to get you stoked on surfing before your session – instead it’s the movie that makes you want to sell your belongings and hit the road – or the coast at least.
I haven’t seen the accompanying book – but heard they are rare in Canada w/o ordering from the states.
Sipping Jetstreams is “A Film and Book by Taylor Steele and Dustin Humphrey
From the markets and souks of Marrakech in Morocco to the blues of the Atlantic in Barbados, from Japan to Cuba, Italy, Hong Kong, and Egypt, Sipping Jetstreams is a photographic journey of discovery and adventure. This two-year odyssey focuses not just on the surfing but the places and the faces of each destination.”

The book is increadible. It’s a really large format, very thick (all killer no filler) and has lots of 4 panel pull out pics in it. It really trancends the whole surf photo book gig and steps into fine art.
