Some smart cyclist(s) have come up with a new concept for Montréal (doubtfully the first – but new here); Mavélocity.
It’s a bike club of sorts that offers secure indoor bicycle parking and shower/locker/internet facilities, and even an on-site bike mechanic.
“Located downtown Montreal, mavélocity Bikestation offers 240 secure, indoor bicycle parking spaces.
The advantages are numerous for the cyclist who will be able to find under the same roof a multitude of services. In addition, the supports for bicycles are secure.
Lastly, since it is an indoor parking, the bicycles remain sheltered from bad weather.
Projected opening : June 1st 2008

I was very excited when I heard about this, but sadly the location is all wrong for me. Now I’m hoping for a second site closer to McGill…
I’m sure if this one takes off they’ll open some more satellite versions. We’re lucky as this is 3 blocks south of our office.
