Seven exhibition

Seven exhibition

I’ve always loved the idea that skateboards are made of wood. Simple wood layers glued together under high pressure without much else added (don’t even comment with the word “boneite!“). I’ve seen some interesting takes on this fact; people who cut decks into new shapes, people who stain and paint decks to create works of art, but this really steps it up…

SEVEN EXHIBITION.

An exhibition allowing artists to explore the idea of lasering away at seven layers of ply that make a deck and add their own distinctive mark.

A select group of artists globally have contributed their works to explore this new technology. Only 50 limited edition decks will be produced per artist. The aim of the show is to have a series of unique decks that collectors may choose to ride or display.

The exhibition will have its first show at the MTV Gallery Space in Sydney, Australia scheduled on Thursday 5th April, to be followed later in the year by New York, LA, Japan and finally a scheduled tour of Europe.

Unfortunately they aren’t coming up to Canada.

    Wow!

Those are some amazing decks. The possibilities available to a laser cutter like that are incredible.

Woder what you could do with one of those on an epoxy/fiberglass laminate?

    :-)
