I was going to write this long post bemoaning the service we received at Stadig campground in Wells, Southern Maine last weekend, but I’ll keep it short and simple. We were flat out lied too, told we couldn’t stay one night that we have reserved and paid for, tricked into playing more, and then upon leaving a couple minutes after their 11am checkout time – refused our deposit for the bathroom keys. The worst service I have ever received anywhere for any reason.
Bottom line — stay away from Stadig Campground in Wells, Maine. There are plenty of other options close by that you can turn to that offer much better service and have much better sites/rules/people running them (this was the first and last time at Stadig for us).
If you need a tent camp site or trailer site in southern Maine, try the well done Maine Camping Guide Region Browser. I can personally recommend Hemlock grove.
You are absolutely right! For being in the hospitality industry these people are the most, the most inhospitable people I have ever given my money to. If you didnt have to pay them before you went in and spent an hour, they would probably never make any money.( I should have realized that when I drove in on July 4 th wekend and there were very few tent sites occupied!!!!!!!!!!
If you haqd 1/2 star for places the Stadig Campground of Wells Maine wouldn`t even get that .The owner with the ponytail likes to talk at people not to them and they walk around at nite and sit and listen ,God forbid you come back to the park after 10 and your kids accidently bang a door or talk to loud they come over and theaten you with a night time eviction ,don`t step off your campsite and pick up small branches or twigs or you`ll have to leave also,after all a vacation is a vacation not an institution.
We went to the Sea-Vu down the street and they were more curtious and pleasant and had a better selection of sites for rv`s than the Stadig Prison campground,
And yes there kids playground looks like its been there since the first generation owned it.
Please if you want a relaxing and courtious campground YOU DON`T WANT TO GO TO Stadig Campground in wells,Maine
