I bought my 2001 Jetta 1.8T about a year and a half ago. I Love it. It was part of the CPO program from VW Canada — in which they take used VW’s under 5 years – completely fix them up – and then re-sell them through the dealership with a 2 year/40k warranty. I’ve run into a couple of problems with the car since buying it… nothing major – but most of it has been covered under the CPO warranty. Not quite sure of the number but the fixes would probably have cost around 1800$ so far. This has covered the “extra” cost of the CPO program as compared to having bought the car privately.
Just a thought for anyone buying a VW: This route has really worked for me – saved me much stress – maybe check it out. I’m actually considering extending the warranty, but will have to weight the cost as it’s not “as cheap”.
